Zipline Requirements
Riders must be 50–250 lbs and able to handle the course on their own. Here's the full list, so nobody gets a surprise at check-in.
Every rider, every tour. It's set by the harness and braking gear, so we can't bend it.
Ziplining is gear-dependent, and the gear only works safely inside a certain range. We'd rather you know all of this now than find out at the gear shed, so here's everything in one place.
-
Weight: 50–250 lbs
Every rider must be between 50 and 250 pounds. This is set by the harness and braking equipment, so there's no wiggle room on it.
-
Harness fit: men's size 42 waist
Riders need to fit into a men's size 42 waist band. If you're close to the line, call ahead and we'll talk it through before you book.
-
No physical limitations
The tour involves walking between platforms, climbing stairs, and supporting your own body weight in a harness. Riders need to be able to do all of that without assistance.
-
Not pregnant
Anyone who is pregnant cannot ride. No exceptions — this one is about the harness and the forces involved.
-
No drugs or alcohol
Nobody under the influence of drugs or alcohol can participate. Save the celebration for after the last line.
Not sure if someone in your group qualifies?
Call us at (423) 250-7511 before you book. We'd much rather sort it out on the phone than turn someone away at check-in, and we've had every version of this question before.
Rafting has its own separate rules — the minimum age for an Ocoee rafting trip is 12. See zip + raft combos for how the two fit together, or pricing for current rates from $60.
Weight & Requirement FAQs
What is the weight limit for ziplining?
On our Ocoee canopy tour, riders must be between 50 and 250 pounds. Weight limits exist because the harness, cable, and braking system are all engineered for a specific range — too light and you can stall before the platform, too heavy and you arrive faster than the brake is rated for. Limits vary by course, so check with any operator before you book.
Is there a size or waist limit?
Yes. Riders need to fit into a men's size 42 waist band, which is the largest harness we carry. If you think you're near the limit, call us before booking and we'll sort it out over the phone.
Is there an age limit for the zipline?
We go by weight rather than age: anyone from 50 to 250 pounds can ride. In practice the 50 lb minimum means most kids under about six aren't big enough yet. Rafting is different — that has a firm minimum age of 12.
Can I zipline while pregnant?
No. Anyone who is pregnant cannot participate. The harness sits across the hips and torso and the course involves sudden stops, so it isn't something we make exceptions for.
What counts as a physical limitation?
The tour means walking between platforms, climbing stairs, and holding your own body weight in a harness. If a rider can't do those things unassisted, the course isn't a safe fit. Not sure where you land? Call us and describe it — we've been asked most versions of this question already.
Can I zipline after drinking?
No. Nobody under the influence of drugs or alcohol can participate, and our guides make that call at check-in. Book the tour first and celebrate afterward.
